Live From RT - Sahara Kelly Reporting in...

Saraha snapped this great pic of from left to right - Nathalie Gray (Lethal Hussy), Ciana Stone (Rope 'n' Ride 'Em Hussy - note the sheriff's badge she lifted from an unsuspecting yeehaw!), and Nicole Austin (Naughty Hussy)

"Greetings from the world of multi cups of coffee - ie RT! Yep, coffee consumption goes up as the nights get later! But we're still alive and kicking, or at least twitching a bit. Last night's Ellora's Cave Fantasy party was a blast - there were some magnificent costumes and we Hussies managed to keep pace thanks to solid underwear and carefully applied theatrical tape! LOL The EC cover models joined the fun and were welcomed enthusiastically by a capacity crowd who shrieked, cheered and indulged themselves in the incredibly luscious chocolate fountain.

"The hotel is starting to make a bit of sense to our befuddled brains, but there's still quite a bit of cell phone contact between us Hussies as one or other of us forgets where we said we'd meet the others. RT scatterbrain syndrome has hit. We've been lucky with the weather so far, which has ranged from really quite toasty in the sunshine to briskly chilly at night, sending those from southern parts scurrying for sweats and wraps. Seeing so many wonderful friends again is just incredible and meeting new ones always a pleasure. Thus far, Sahara (and her co-host Amanda McIntyre) have deflowered over 200 RT virgins, metaphorically speaking. It's the largest enrollment in an RT convention yet - and wooo damn as our lethal Hussy Nat would say!

"So today (Thursday) we pull our weary rear ends out of bed and get ready for another day of meetings, seminars, missed cell phone calls, sore feet and hugs in the bar. Tonight we flit from magic glade to magic coral reef with the Faery Court. Time has stopped, taken a breath and turned itself inside out. We feel like we've been here forever or for just a minute or two, depending on the whim of a breeze. It's surreal, wonderful and exhausting. And I think I have time for ONE more cup of coffee -"

Hussy Hugs,
Sahara

HOLLYWOOD - EC STYLE

Wednesday night at RT was the EC party. A grand kick-off to RT. The theme this year was old Hollywood, and in true old Hollywood fashion it was resplendant with people having some sensual fun.

"The EC party was great!!!" Hussy Nic reported. "The cover models did a little performance that had the ladies all drooling. Everyone was looking gorgeous in their gowns."

Glamour was abundant!

Known not just for her fabulous books, Tawny Taylor's costumes are always anticipated with excitement and last night she treated everyone with a Breakfast at Tiffany's outfit. Go Tawny!

Earlier that day, The Hussies attended the ebook booksigning. A first time event. They will also be participating in the Saturday's print booksigning. A lot of people turned out for this event. Below is Sahara's oftentimes writing partner, S.L. Carpenter (Scott)

Sahara Kelly was Grace Kelly - gorgeous (although she did have several requests for a demonstration of how she could make the pearls on the chest twirl in a circle, being the true gracious hussy, she declined and instead gave us a gracious pose with the handsome Scott Carpenter, her Partner in Passion.) Later she demonstrated her soft-shoe dancing abilty with the ever vivacious Liddy Midnight.

Naughty Hussy, Nic, found a few up close and personal moments with California Bad Boy, Christian.

Ciana's taste ran more toward an affectionate hug from the divine Andrei Claude.

Nathalie was glorious in her tastefu gown and the sneaky hussy ducked out before Ci could catch her with her brand of hunk. But then she's still on European time so we'll let her slide ... until tomorrow night.

Nic, Sahara, Scott and Ci closed down the bar with friends, Christian, the fabulous gals from Fallen Angel Reviews.

EC's VIRGIN PARTY

More Hussy pics from RT! It was EC's VIRGIN PARTY - thrown for those first-timer authors attending RT. Everyone is buzzing with good things to say about this party. Check out the video on Night Owl's site. Who is the woman trying to conduct an orchestra? I'll give you a hint - she's a HUSSY.

The grapevine is zinging that Nic found some company in the lobby bar. This dashing duo - EC models - are Brian (left) and Devin (right) and of course the very Naughty Hussy, Nic in the middle.

Sahara was seen cozying up in the bar with 2007 Mr. Romance, Jason Santiago. Hmmmm, wonder what they were discussing? Knowing our Princess of Passion Hussy it wasn't the decor!

But where is Nat, our Lethal Hussy? Jet lagged and catching up on sleep so she can storm through the convention in the morning!

The reason there's no photo so far today of Ciana is because she was busy behind the camera.

I understand she got a lot of shots though of authors and models. So where are they? Some will be posted here and next week, all those photos will be plastered all over The Hussies' website for our upcoming contest!

First Photos of RT with The Hussies

Fresh in from the RT frontlines, Nicole Austin reports that fun is being had by all, especially The Hussies. Rumor has it that Ciana was seen passing out tequila shots to everyone. Go Ci! Nic on the other hand had a real Kodak moment with a hunk. Recognize that sexy couple? Hint - JOHN FISH - EC's contestant for MR. ROMANCE 2008. I think he's already won this competition. What about you?

And then Ci was rounded up by some of the hunks and Nic grabbed the shot. I also understand from a reliable source that the Virgin ‘coming out’ party was turned upside down when The Hussies accompanied by Scott Carpenter crashed the bash. I’m still waiting on pictures of that scene.

And afterward, they all retired to the bar where Ci was seen braiding Joy’s hair (Joyfully Reviewed, Joy). That Ci is a Hussy of many talents.

Superhero sex

Years ago, science fiction author Larry Niven wrote an essay titled "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex." As you might gather from the title, it was a serious, logical, and rational treatise on how Lois Lane would have almost instantly died during the act of sex, if not foreplay.

Science fiction fans found this piece to be absolutely hysterical, while comic book fans rolled their eyes and ignored the sniggering (and anyone not in either category assumed this was why neither set of fans dated much, if at all, because back then, girls were rarely found in either place). Eventually, that particular work was absorbed into the philosophies of the comic book genre, and some works actually use it in their worldbuilding, while others don't. If you've watched the TV show Smallville, you'll have noticed an unspoken reference to the Niven piece; if you know the series, you'll know what I'm referring to. There's a new author from Ellora's Cave, Carol Strickland, who has a book coming out who's worked around it, too, and that makes sense since she hails from comic books.
Since then, the idea of superhero sex has grown and spread (and add inyour own metaphor here). Some authors take into account the Niven hypothesis, while others don't. (For that matter, some are probably not aware of the Niven essay, so there's a good reason they're ignoring it.)
My own take on the superhero theme, INTRODUCING SONIKA, was easy when it came to sex: they're both human, but Sonika herself has something else mixed in there, considering she can do things beyond that of normal man (and woman, yeah, yeah). But I'm working on a sequel, in which one of the characters is fire itself. So what the heck am I going to do when it comes time for the character to have sex, with a human, yet? Water?
But then she's not quite homo sapiens herself anymore. She's homo superior, but still nothing in the league of the guy. If I were to take the Niven hypothesis seriously (as seriously as you can take the entire subject, that is), I would have to start theorizing about the physiological aspects of someone with the powers of a sun in the act of doing the hootchie-cootchie with someone who can summon the force of a tornado. (At least sort of like a tornado. It's a work in progress.) What would be the result? Solar flares? Solar winds?
And then there's the other guy in the equation...
Superheroes and sex: fun to speculate about, a real challenge to write about!

Winner - Things We Do For Love

On Thursday I ask to hear about the wildest things you all had done for love. I also offered a $25 Amazon.com gift card for the person with the best tale of what they'd done.

Hands down, Amy, you went to extremes. Wow! What a dedicated fan. Get in touch with me by email nicole@nicoleaustin.net for you gift card.

For those of you who didn't get to read Amy's story, I've posted it below.

I spent $250 (roundtrip - the one thing that was "cheap") on airfare to Puerto Rico. I spent I don't even remember - over $400 for my 1/3 of a hotel room (for a total of 5 nights). I spent at least a couple hundred dollars on souvenirs and gods only know how much on food and cold beverages. Shared taxis probably another $100 at least, plus tips, for sightseeing. I spent $120 total on a bus from the hotel to a concert venue (total 4 concerts, $30 each night). I spent $675 for a total of 4 concert tickets. I was was in the 6th row, third row, fifth row - and the last night in the VIP section, second row, meaning AT the stage by the second song.I DID also get to meet tons of folks I had only met online before, had outstanding food not available anywhere close to where I live, and had the time of my life. And yeah, it was worth it. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Ricky Martin. Opening of the Black and White Tour in Feb. 2007. He sold out the venue four nights in a row; new world record and all that. And ya know what? I also went BACK to Puerto Rico in August of 2007 for two more concerts when the live CD/DVD was filmed/taped. Plus Madison Sq. Garden in NYC and Fairfax, VA.Previous tour I think I saw him 5(?) concerts, and the one before that 4, plus a cd signing in Toronto. And I've seen him far less than MANY of my friends.
