Keychain Condoms and the Egyptians!

Well, this discussion is proving to be such fun. I decided to do some research first on the history of condoms and then for some more novelty items.

THE HISTORY OF CONDOMS

I was surprised to find condoms could be traced back not just a few hundred years, but THOUSANDS. Yup, all the way back to 1,000 BC and the Egyptians.

Now it's interesting to note that there are paintings in the French caves-Combarelles of condoms being used. These drawings have been dated between 100 - 200 AD.

As for novelty condoms, well, I didn't find anything on that, but as for the dolphin one, I must say - WHAT? I'm inclined to think that version is geared to the sexually active younger hussies. I mean huh? Well, I can't see how it would be very sexy or arousing personally, but there had to be a marketing survey done as with all smart business people introducing new products. Right? I mean... right?

Anyway, here are some that I discovered that are truly well... you decide what they are.

#1 - The Compact Condom holder. That's what the ad said it was. Yes, it's for that very special date when you decide to powder your ah - whatever.

#2 - When you want a little snack

#3 Wicked Spiral - This one is promoted as the ultimate barrier contraceptive. Well, now, I can imagine that is true. I dubbed it 'wicked' because well, it is. (G)

#4 The Keychain Condom - The ad states for emergency use. Okay Hussies. Do you think a guy might get a tad concerned if he sees you toting a condom on your keyring? Or worse, if the guy has this keyring. RUN!

While I always think we shouldn't take life too seriously because it demands seriousness, let's just say if I needed a condom, I would definitely not be shopping for any of the novelty condoms we've discussed so far.

So what do you think of these four? If you had to choose one, which would it be? I mean, IF you needed a condom and these were your only choices. (eg)

And if you don't believe the guy when he says he can't feel anything wearing a condom, watch this:

Let's give'em something to talk about

And what has been the topic of more conversation than anything? Why sex, of course We think about it, fantasize about it, dream about it, write about it and talk about it. And when a bunch of women start talking sex ... well watch out... it can be astounding, shocking, romantic or hilarious.

We've decided to include all of you in our "sex talks". Want to find out what Hussies actually talk about when it comes to sex? Well hold onto your knickers. This week's topic is an item that's come into play (pun intended) in almost every one's sex life. The often dreaded, much made fun of ... condom.

Now, I'll say right up front that I'm not a fan of the latex wonders. Yes, they serve a valuable purpose and I'm a big proponent of safe sex. But let's face it, they're not really designed to enhance your sexual experience.

UNTIL NOW.

Or so thinks Intellx, a company who recently introduced the SafeSexyShapes line of designer condoms. Designer you say? How so?

Well, these little marvels come in a variety of shapes including a: beer glass, submarine, oak tree, hourglass, and the world's first flat-top condom (without the usual nipple-end). And let's not forget their flagship - the Dolphin. With the graceful curves of a real dolphin - even the teasing, pleasing bottlenose (their hype, not mine) AND a fin.

The first major retailer to sell the Dolphin in the US is CVS drugstores. Intellx praises the chain for "offering the USA this milestone of innovation for safer-sex." The company apparently plans on expanding their line by adding such designs as the 'Home Run' (Baseball Bat), 'Bubbly' (Champagne Flute), 'The Mike' (Microphone), 'Bell Ringer', etc., on a regular basis.

Not to be outdone, Durex, a leading condom company, recently introduced a "radically curved condom, the Pleasure Curve, shaped like a banana. Yes, a banana.

Intellx president was quoted as saying that their new innovative line is "Fun to look at, and even more fun to use, our shaped condoms help uplift the overall image of condoms like never before."

Excuse me for a moment while I LMAO. I'm sorry but the visuals running rampant through my head are too funny:

Rex turns toward the bed, his eyes gleaming in the dancing light of the candles Peaches had artfully placed around the room. Her eyes moved over his broad chest and ripped abdomen, then lower to ..... (insert sound of tires screeching to a sudden halt), the dolphin shaped condom covering his erection?

I'm sorry, it's too freaking funny for me to take seriously. Maybe I'm a freak or something but I just couldn't keep that amorous feeling if I saw one of those things. I mean come on, a dolphin? Nothing "free Willie" about that. Oh, sorry, Willie was a whale. Maybe I should email Intellx and suggest a whale condom ... "the next best thing to setting Willie free."

And what's up with the banana thing? Does it magically bend a penis? (Ouch) Or is this some kind of latex penis puppet that the poor penis hides inside and wonders if anything is actually happening since it can't feel a damn thing?

Personally, if my man comes at me with something resembling a submarine on his penis I'm liable to launch a torpedo from my most excellent WTF battleship and the laughter may have things going "down periscope" if you get my drift.

But hey, that's just me. My sister hussies may have more intelligent and thought provoking ideas. Stay tuned this week to find out. And don't be afraid to send in your comments. On Saturday we'll feature a special post of all the most entertaining comments from readers.

Have a great week!!

Sex - it does the body good

Forget the milk. Well, save it for the cookies afterwards but today the focus is on sex. And why not? It's good for you. Think I'm kidding? Would I kid about news this excellent?

Researchers at the University of Texas published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, the findings from a study they conducted last year that proves making love isn't just something to make you feel good. It's good for you!

And just HOW good?

1. It improves your mood: (no duh!)
veryone probably already knows that in a great bout of sex, the body releases endorphins, those great little "happy chemicals" that improve mood.

2. It aids sleep.
During orgasm the body produces oxytocin (a hormone that's linked to a lot of positive psychological and physical affects, including its beneficial impact on sleep. So next time insomnia hits, either reach for the man or the vibrator. You'll snooze a lot better.

3. It fights stress
Aside from the obvious pleasure derived from sex which is a stress fighter, it's thought that sex has a biochemical effect and reduces the levels of cortisol which is the hormone that secreted when you're under stress. Sex and de-stress:) Works for me!

4. It boosts your immunity.
No kidding! Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, or IgA, which can protect you from colds and other sorts of infections. Hey now, I want a strong immune system. Oh honey man .....

5. It reduces the risk of cancer.
Say what? I'm serious. According to the British Journal of Urology, frequent ejaculations may reduce the risk of prostate cancer for men in later life. Researchers found that men who had at least five or more ejaculations weekly during their twenties reduced their risk of getting prostate cancer by a third.

Research also suggests that regular sexual activity could help women to avoid breast cancer. A study conducted in 1989 examined 146 French women and found a higher risk of breast cancer in those women without sexual partner or who had sex less than once a month.

6. It helps alleviate pain
Yes, sex has been linked with a pain reduction for a wide range of conditions, including lower back pain, migraines, arthritis and premenstrual syndrome symptoms. It's all down to those hormones again. It increases endorphin es, the body's natural painkillers.

In 2001 there were two studies on orgasms and migraine headaches in women and men. Researchers discovered that for both orgasm resulted in pain relief. And an earlier study of 83 women who suffered from migraines reported that orgasm resulted in pain relief for more than half of the group. Although this form of pain relief is less reliable and effective than the use of drug therapies, the effects of orgasm as an analgesic are more rapid.

Oh honey, I feel a headache coming on. Quick, to bed!!

7. It burns calories.
Okay, I'll confess, this one made me grin in glee. I'm always on the lookout for fun ways to burn calories. Of course, it needs to be fairly energetic to burn more than 100 calories in half an hour. But generally you can burn 85 calories or more in half an hour. Works for me!

8. It increases longevity
One of the most extensive studies into the relationship between sex and mortality was carried out in Caerphilly, South Wales, from 1979 to 1983, with a 10-year follow-up. In the study, 918 men were given a physical examination and asked about their frequency of orgasm. After 10 years it was found that the mortality risk was 50 per cent lower among men who had frequent orgasms – which was defined as two or more per week. The study also found that, even when adjusting for age and other risk factors, frequent intercourse was associated with lower incidence of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

So there you have it. Sex DOES do the body good. And with that, I'll wish you all a great evening, night, morning or afternoon as the case may be.

Big hugs!
Ciana

Oh honey man...let me tell you what I just found out :)

It's Your Thang, Do What You Wanna Do...

It's your Thang do what you wanna do... so in the paranormal world this can mean a lot of things. (eg)

For the vamp we'd assume it means drinking blood, but not all vamps are created equal. Some are in angst over their new lifestyle while others revel in the pure evilness of it and then there are middle of the road vamps who have adjusted and made it more civilized, but the ultimate shared thang for vamps is hey, they're undead and undead they will stay until someone stakes, garlics, or holy waters them. Sometimes all three.
Another thang is the obvious, no sunlight. Nothing new here, yawn, but there could be. What about a shapeshifting sexy vamp who has a thang for Italian food? The two-legged kind. Enter the connoisseurs of genetics. Yup, vamps who will only drink from certain ethnic groups. Now that's a cool thang to mix up the old and expected. We, including the things bumping in the night, are all creatures of habit and familiarity alas breeds contempt especially in the immortal. What about a vamp who has a thang for vintage cars and knew Michelangelo during the day. Now that is a very cool thang to be able to recount at a vamp dinner party just before the entrees are served up-screaming.
This vid is a hoot! Campy and complete with a kind of Egor! One film I've not seen. Must go buy Dinner With a Vampire. Must...

As for weres and their thang, well, short of howling and ravaging, I can't think of too many. You won't find one with a penchant for silver jewelry and certainly none born with a silver spoon in their mouths, but still, there is a certain bad puppy allure surrounding a were, like he really needs a good home. Er… the real question is once you've brought him home will you be able to house train him? Ah... not on a night with a full moon.

Ghosts have a thang for the dark and creepy. No surprises there unless they are of the demonic variety and then their thang is going to be possession. As for a banshee, the obvious is that deafening spine splitting shriek that pretty much says all you want to know about the she-devil, yet like the succubus, there's more than meets the eye, as in motivation. Because all paranormal creatures have the strongest motivations. Sometimes they might not be obvious, but if you delve deep enough, you discover these are really their thangs and they are going to do whatever they want to do. There's no stopping them. They will risk everything to see that they obtain their thang and sometimes that might just be you! Bwaaahhh!

Sex and The Vampire

Sex and the vampire.

I’ve written a couple of vamp novels and have to say for me that whole bad boy appeal just makes my toes curl. I adore the tall dark and non-human aspect of the vamp lover. And while my vamps are quite comfy in their skins and never lament about not being human, they do have their own brand of angst of emotional wounds.

Recently I started writing another vamp book and plan for it to be a book 2 in the Savannah setting I created for All I Need. In writing it, I've added quite a few other elements such as werewolves and another yet unnamed species of dark and mysterious. (g)

This whole process made me think about vampires and their kindred ghouls and what exactly about them appeals to us as women and as readers.

The biting aspect during the heat of sex can be sexy if conveyed just right. Then there is the vulnerability of the vampire. He's tall, he's dark and oh so sexy, but he can be destroyed by something so simple as sunlight. Does that bring out the protective instinct in us? Or does it just keep him from being godlike in his immortality?

Could it be the fact he outlives everyone he'll ever know, humanwise that is? Or does his immortality appeal to us and capture our imaginations? He's died and been restored as a non-human so in effect he's defeated death. Power over life.

So what elements of a vamp book grab you? Is it the dark side struggling to be good, but just not able to make it? Is it the rescuing of a wounded hero? Or is it just the eternal lure of the bad boy?

Incubus or Succubus - Are they real?

Sometimes people are too quick to attribute an event or episode to paranormal. Among some of these are the paranormal being linked to unusual sexual encounters. Why? Does it tap into the nerve of taboo or is it something darker? Are Incubi and Succubi attacking women and men in their sleep and having forced sex with them? Do some become sexual addicts as is the case of one woman who reported group sex with her disemboided spirits?

History is full of stories of incubus or succubus attacks. The unsuspecting victim awakens while being sexually assaulted. Is this a case of awake dreaming or a psychological symptom of a deeper and more disturbing mental illness? Or ... could it in fact be a real paranormal event?

I've had only one incident where I awoke to find an entity in my bed and it was not an incubus, but the astral projection of my boyfriend. Could this solve the great mystery? Are disembodied entities nothing more than people astral projecting while they sleep? Hmm... I think there is a story in there somewhere.

The logical mind rejects disembodied sex since the world of the physical cannot imagine a phsycial act being performed by a spirit. In our modern world, we take comfort that we know how everything works. We have theories. We have scientists who put forth these theories and they are the framework of all we know to be real. We have a firm handle on how the universe works and in our modern world if science cannot prove it, then, hey, it simply doesn't exist.

Nevermind, such stories have been around since people began the oral tradition of storytelling. Even Shakespeare wrote about it. Could it have so simple an explanation as sleep paralysis? Deep dream? Awake dream?

I decided to google Incubus and stumbled upon a link to an old William Shatner film by the title, Incubus. For horror fans, this is the holy grail of lost films and can be purchased on the website.

But I soon found myself on a different path to the made-up language used by the demonic incubi and succubi in the film. Esperanto.

I was hooked.

And shocked... to learn there are over 3 million people in the world who have learned and speak Esperanto. A language created and presented to the world in 1887 by Dr. L.L. Zamenhof.

So why would anyone create a new language?

Dr. Zamenhof felt Esperanto could serve as a middle ground kind of language since it was based in the romance languages - Latin and Greek. He envisioned Esperanto becoming a universal second language so those who spoke different languages would have a common language to communicate in, without compromising their own culture and language.

I found this to be a really unique and forward thinking idea. It took Dr. Zamenhof years to develop Esperanto and to think it ended up in a horror movie as the language choice for demons. Well, probably not the way he'd hoped it would be embraced, but I'm off to see if I can learn Esperanto and maybe better understand what the incubus is whispering.

Gettin' Naughty - Taboos

What is Taboo?

Taboo—according to dictionary.com—proscribed by society as improper or unacceptable. A prohibition or interdiction of anything; exclusion from use or practice. Exclusion from social relations; ostracism.

Taboo is a rather gray, blurry word, having different meanings for different people. The word taboo is often used to define sexual practices considered by society to be kinky, inappropriate or immoral. To some, their taboos are their boundaries, or the things they do not enjoy. Others define taboos to be things considered illegal.

Our taboos are often shaped by how we were first exposed to the subject in question. Was it through someone making fun of the subject in the locker room or maybe in teachings by elders that the subject was ugly, dirty or immoral? Personal sexual taboos can also be attributed to bad experiences in the past.

Our personal sexual taboos vary as much as our personalities. While some may consider anal or oral sex to be taboo, others may find those acts to be perfectly normal and pleasurable. Multiple partners, sex toys, fantasies and porn are among the sexual taboos I’ve seen listed online.

I used to consider anything outside of my own comfort zone to be taboo. Since I began reading and writing erotic romances, my list has dwindled as I’ve pushed my boundaries, both personal and as an author. Writing erotic scenes has forced me to think about my personal taboos and why they made the list. What I’ve discovered is that most of the things on my list fit into one of two categories—I’d been taught they were bad or I’d never experienced them. My new philosophy—if it feels good (and isn’t destructive or harmful to anyone) it is good.

According to a study conducted by researchers at San Diego State University, young women are tearing down sexual taboos. How? Teenagers are having more sex at a younger age and are less prudish than other generations. Feelings of sexual guilt have plummeted. The study attributes this change to the cultural/sexual revolution having altered American culture, and a shift in movies and television shows now tackling topics formerly considered taboo. Practices that used to be considered taboo are far more acceptable in today’s society.

The best way to become more open-minded and grow is to step outside of your comfort zone and give something different a try. How else can you be sure that you’re not missing out on an activity you may receive great pleasure from? Take things slow. Don’t try to throw out all your taboos at once. And don’t relegate something to a taboo after only giving it one attempt. You might not have been in the right frame of mind or have approached the activity informed and prepared. Do a bit of online research for tips and techniques.

Most important, as you play and try new things, do so safely and with a partner you trust.
